BMW,s latest PHEV vehicle announced is the 545e xDrive Sedan. The new PHEV uses an inline-6 turbocharged engine with 286 hp. The engine benefits from BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology. Alongside the petrol powertrain, the 545e uses an electric motor with 109 hp. As a result, the combined output for the model reaches to 394 hp and 600 nm of torque.
The Plug-in hybrid powertrain is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission and xDrive AWD system.
According to the automaker, the BMW 545e xDrive can go from standstill to 100 kph in 4.7 seconds and its top is 250 kph. The EV performance is also improved and the car can reach the top speed of 140 kph relying on its electric power. The electric driving range is also 54-57 km and the average fuel consumption is between 2.1-2.4 l/100km.
BMW 545e xDrive offers several driving modes. On the Eco Pro mode the system tries to optimize the hybrid system for the better driving range and when the Sport mode is activated the car gives all of its 394 hp to the driver. On the Electric mode, the driver can enjoy zero-emission driving.
BMW hasn’t announced pricing for the 545e xDrive yet.
