Jeep announced a diesel version of Gladiator pickup for 2021 with a new EcoDiesel engine. The 2021 Gladiator EcoDiesel uses a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 260 hp and 599 NM of torque. We have seen The EcoDiesel engine before on the wrangler. The powerful diesel powertrain benefits variable geometry water-cooled turbocharger, forged steel crankshaft, aluminum alloy pistons, compression ratio of 16.5:1 and lighter block. The power transfers to both axles with an 8-speed automatic transmission with new gear changing algorithm.
The diesel Gladiator will hit the market in three trims called Sport, Overland and Rubicon. The diesel pickup benefits an start/start function, Dana 44 axles and Command-Trac or Rock-Trac transfer case.
While Jeep didn't mention any extra information about the Gladiator diesel we can expect the base price around $40k for the diesel model.
