Acura has unveiled the updated 2022 RDX. Acura drew inspiration from the bigger MDX when revamping the RDX, which now features a Diamond Pentagon grille with a slimmer chrome surround. The exterior changes continue with a minimally altered rear bumper and a new rectangular twin exhaust system. A new Liquid Carbon Metallic color is now available, as are revised 19- and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The inside improvements are minor, but purchasers will notice a new 7-inch digital speedometer, Amazon Alexa connectivity, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The interior of the RDX is similarly Saddle Brown, with a new bronze finish added to the aluminum trim. A wireless smartphone charger and an IconicDrive LED ambient lighting system with 27 unique color combinations have also been included in the Technology Package.
The model also has an improved noise cancellation system and updated engine tune, which reduces the cold idle speed from 1,100 rpm to 950 rpm.
The 2022 RDX A-Spec has numerous distinctive design elements, including a gunmetal-finished grille and fog-light trim, a gloss-black grille surround, and more.
The new updated RDX retains its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. It has the same 276 horsepower and 380 nm output, as well as identical fuel efficiency figures throughout the board. It is mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission and may be coupled with an optional Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system with torque vectoring technology.
The forward-collision warning system has been improved in terms of safety, with the inclusion of pedestrian automatic emergency braking.
Acura also introduced a new rear seatbelt reminder system and a more precise traffic sign recognition system, which now uses a camera rather than GPS data.
There is no pricing information available at this time, but the 2021 RDX begins at $38,400. Official price information will be released closer to the crossover's release date.
