Rally is always fascinating. Honda is one of those carmakers that are always so active in this sport segment. Honda introduced its 2022 Passport for the American Rally Association series. The whole engineering team also are at the event. The 2022 Honda Passport specially armed for Rally competition was debuted on October 15 and 16.
The Honda Passport needed many upgrades to get ready for Rally. However, company decided to leave the powertrain and suspension untouched. Instead, new exhaust system is employed. The car has 17-inch wheels that are 7.5 inches wide. Just to comply with the event conditions, Honda uses Maxxis RAZR M/T or RAZR A/T tires. The Carbotech XP12 brake pads and high-temperature racing brake fluid are also used.
The engineer team decided to use custom skid plates that measure 1/8-inch thick and protect the oil plan and rear differential for this SUV. Polyethylene panels are protecting the fuel tank and some other important parts too. In the darkness, a light bar could be used on the front of vehicle. Fluid cooler is used to make the automatic transmission of the optional tow package.
The other important thing about it, is the transmission system. Rally Passport has a nine-speed automatic transmission just like the regular ones.at the Rally time, Sequential mode is possible. The paddle shifters can change cogs. However, the terrain management system stays in Sand Mode.
Inside the car, has got ready for the race. For the safety option cabin is striped, just along with OMP seats with six-point harnesses, a roll cage, fire suppression system, rally computer, and an in-vehicle communication system. There is no need to say the mirrors are polycarbonate. The hydraulic handbrake is the easiest way for passport to pitch a slide.
All the efforts that are made, brought for Honda the place of 22nd from 42 overall competitors. Also, a fourth place among six cars in the Limited 4WD class. Honda Passport was always in top ten, but this time because of a tire de-bead, it lost more than 9 minutes.
Passport has the Trailsport version for regular customers too. It is a bit bigger and has giant 18-inch wheels and 245/60 R18 tires.
