The 2022 Elantra N joins Hyundai's expanding N Line of performance cars. The small sedan enters the Hyundai range with the Veloster N and Kona N.
The 2017 Elantra N is at the forefront of the bold-styled lineup. It has intakes all over its face, a sassy spoiler affixed to the trunk lid, and red-painted embellishments running down the bottoms of the bumpers.
The newest Elantra's interior is enhanced with well-bolstered front sport seats that are 0.4 inches lower than those seen in previous Elantras, N badges, and N-specific menus on the driver-information display.
The Elantra N is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 276 horsepower. Hyundai supplies the Elantra N with a limited-slip differential, launch control, and an active exhaust system in addition to the usual six-speed manual transmission.
The Elantra N has unique suspension tuning and a variety of nice small sporty touches both inside and out.
If you choose the optional eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, the most powerful Elantra adds an extra amount of power through a steering-wheel-mounted button that, when pressed, provides a momentary overboost feature known as "N Grin Shift" to harness an extra 10 horsepower.
Regardless of transmission, all Elantra Ns will reach 60 mph in less than 6.0 seconds. The twist-beam rear suspension of the basic sedan is replaced by a more complex and adjustable multilink system in the Elantra N. Larger 14.2-inch vented front rotors and 12.4-inch vented rear rotors, as well as beefier tires.
Pricing for the 2022 Hyundai Elantra N is yet unknown. Nonetheless, anticipate it to start near the price of its Veloster N, which is now $33,505.
