2025 Jeep Gladiator, Minor Updates and a Major Loss

Author: |

The Jeep Gladiator, a midsize pickup truck known for its rugged capabilities and off-road prowess, has received a few minor updates for the 2025 model year. However, there is one significant change that will likely disappoint many enthusiasts: the discontinuation of the manual transmission.

For 2025, the Gladiator will only be available with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This marks the end of the manual option for all trim levels, leaving the Toyota Tacoma as the only pickup truck in America that still offers a stick shift. While the automatic transmission is certainly reliable and efficient, many drivers prefer the tactile experience and control that comes with a manual gearbox.

Despite the loss of the manual transmission, the 2025 Gladiator does have a few notable improvements. Power windows and door locks are now standard equipment on all trims, including the base Sport model. Previously, these features were only available on higher-trim levels.

As expected, the base price of the Gladiator has increased slightly for 2025. However, the price hike is relatively modest, considering the additional features and the ongoing increase in manufacturing costs. The 2025 Gladiator Sport starts at $39,995, which is an increase of $205 compared to the previous year.

The Gladiator Mojave and Rubicon models have actually seen a decrease in price for 2025. Compared to the previous year, the Mojave and Rubicon are now about $2,000 cheaper. The difference is even more significant for the Mojave X and Rubicon X, which are over $4,000 less expensive than in 2024.

In terms of other changes, the 2025 Gladiator is available in two new exterior colors: Fathom Blue and '41, a shade of green inspired by military vehicles. Additionally, owners can now pre-condition the cabin using the Jeep Connect mobile app and the available Active Cabin Ventilation feature.

One highly anticipated addition to the Gladiator lineup is the 4xe plug-in hybrid version. Jeep has confirmed that the Gladiator 4xe will officially debut sometime in 2025. When it arrives, it is expected to feature the same powertrain as the Wrangler 4xe, which consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, producing a combined 375 horsepower.
