Even though BMW unveiled the new 2-series this year, the performance M2 model has yet to be seen. The M240i is currently the most potent 2-series model available. Recently, AC Schnitzer unveiled a tuning kit for the M240i that brings its power quite near to that of a genuine M model.
By the end of the summer, you'll be able to use Schnitzer's toolkit to outfit a G42 M240i with 414 horsepower and other stylistic modifications.
With respect to the stock M240i, Schnitzer's work on the B58 3.0-liter inline-six adds a solid 45 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque. Sadly, Schnitzer's modifications do not offer a manual transmission alternative.
AC Schnitzer doesn't say how much faster the auto-only M240i is, but given that Car & Driver recorded an astounding 3.6 seconds to 97 km/h in a stock version, we know it will be incredibly quick.
The new M240i with rear-wheel drive is also capable of using Schnitzer's engine tuning, which would undoubtedly bring the modified vehicle very close to the genuine M2.
The power boost is complemented by a long-range of additional tuning components. A sports suspension package that lowers the 2-Series by 20–25 mm is also included on the list of updated components, along with 19- and 20-inch wheels that are pushed to the outer edge of the wheel arches using a 12–mm spacer kit.
Two gorgeous trunk-lid wings and a discreet roof spoiler are on the list of optional aero items, but they look so fantastic that we would have to consider them necessities, along with the enlarged shifting paddles.
This modified M240i has a lot of appeals, especially considering Schnitzer supports the engine with a warranty. The pricing hasn't been published yet and buyers need to contact the tuner for more information.
