The Avatr 06, a new electric sedan developed by the collaborative efforts of CATL, Changan, and Huawei, has officially entered the presale phase in China. With a starting price of 215,900 yuan (approximately $29,750), the vehicle will be available in both extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants. The full market launch and domestic sales are scheduled to begin in April this year.
Avatr is a high-end automotive brand born from a strategic joint venture between state-owned automaker Changan and battery giant CATL, while Huawei contributes advanced technological components. Despite its strong backing, the brand has faced challenges in gaining traction in China’s competitive automotive landscape. Since its debut in December 2022, Avatr has sold a total of 91,265 units as of February 2025, a modest figure considering the size of China’s EV market. The Avatr lineup currently includes the Avatr 11 fastback SUV, the 12 liftback sedan, and the 07 crossover. The 06 sedan is now the fourth model in the lineup.
The design of the Avatr 06 represents the brand’s latest stylistic direction, featuring sleek aesthetics such as signature LED daytime running lights, flush retractable door handles, and sculpted fenders that add to its dynamic profile. Some versions offer side-view cameras in place of traditional mirrors, enhancing both aerodynamics and technological appeal. A prominent LiDAR sensor is mounted on the roof, pointing to advanced driver-assistance capabilities. The sedan’s dimensions are 4,885 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,450 mm in height, with a spacious 2,940 mm wheelbase.
Inside the cabin, the Avatr 06 impresses with a futuristic layout, anchored by a massive 35.4-inch curved screen stretching across the dashboard, serving as the digital instrument cluster. In addition, a 15.6-inch main touchscreen provides infotainment functions, while integrated side-view camera displays help the driver maintain awareness of their surroundings without turning their head. Other notable interior highlights include Nappa leather seating and a premium 25-speaker Meridian sound system.
Performance-wise, the BEV version of the Avatr 06 features a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 338 horsepower. A more powerful all-wheel-drive variant offers a total of 590 horsepower. It utilizes an 82 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a driving range of up to 650 kilometers. The EREV model pairs a 310 hp electric motor with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that acts as a generator, not a drive unit. It comes with either a 31.7 kWh or 45.06 kWh battery, offering a pure electric range of 170 to 240 kilometers. All versions feature air suspension for enhanced ride comfort.
The Avatr 06 is available in five trims—two EREV and three BEV versions—with detailed pricing expected at the official launch in April.
