Launched in China was the BAIC Beijing BJ90 Shanhe Edition based on the Mercedes GL. It has evolved into the less expensive variant of the 2019-released BJ90.
The 2010 Beijing Auto Show saw the world debut of the B90 concept car, on which the Beijing BJ90 is based. The car is built on the same platform as the X166 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. The BJ90 is constructed in accordance with a technology transfer agreement with Mercedes-Benz, which is interesting.
Full-size SUV BJ90 measures 5171 mm long, 1995 mm wide, 1902 mm tall, and has a 3100 mm wheelbase. The GL-Class suspension chassis is used for this vehicle. It, therefore, has air suspension. It's important to note that the BJ90's interior has a 5- and 4-seat configuration.
Its drivetrain is powered by a Mercedes-Benz petrol engine. It is a 330 horsepower and 480 Nm 3-liter turbocharged V6 called the M276. This ICE functions alongside a 9-speed automatic transmission.
2015 saw the beginning of the BJ90's small-batch production for the government only. Nevertheless, BJ90 became a purchasable item for some businesses in 2019. It cost between 141,910 and 185,000 USD.
The BJ90 Shanhe Edition is intended for private customers. So Chinese buyers can get it for between 68,660 and 71,530 USD. The BJ90 has a much lower price tag, but it is also a very old vehicle that is based on an even older one. As a result, its market success is highly speculative.
