In China, on April 12, the Baojun Yep Plus made its official debut, presenting two variants priced at 93,800 yuan (equivalent to 12,900 USD) and 103,800 yuan (about 14,300 USD) respectively. This model represents an expanded version of the original compact 3-door Baojun Yep, with Baojun being a marque under the SAIC-GM-Wuling collaborative venture.
Market positioning of the Baojun Yep Plus revolves around its identity as a compact, fully electric SUV, built on the Tianyu architecture. Its dimensions measure 3996/1760/1726 mm, with a wheelbase of 2560 mm. Notably, it boasts a laden ground clearance of 150 mm, a turning radius of 5.35 m, and a curb weight of 1325 kg.
Staying true to the design cues of its predecessor, the Baojun Yep Plus inherits the "Square Box+" aesthetic, featuring five doors and a four-seater configuration, evoking an adventurous aura. The front fascia adopts a sleek, closed appearance with black panel embellishments and LED headlights.
Distinctive exterior elements include a raised roof, roof-mounted luggage rails, 16-inch dual five-spoke alloy wheels, and circular retro-inspired taillights. Additionally, the original rear external cargo box design has been replaced by a centralized Baojun logo. The side-opening tailgate retains practicality, offering a 12 L storage capacity internally and supporting a small rear table.
Stepping inside, the cabin showcases a three-spoke steering wheel, an 8.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and a prominent 10.1-inch floating central infotainment screen. The center console incorporates a cup holder and a wireless charging pad for mobile devices.
Propulsion is provided by a front-mounted single electric motor generating 75 kW and 180 Nm of torque, complemented by a 41.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack from Guoxuan High-Tech. The vehicle achieves a maximum speed of 150 km/h and offers a CLTC range of 401 km, supporting both fast and slow charging. Fast charging can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes. Four driving modes are available: economy+, economy, standard, and sport.
As a Plus model, the interior is abundant with storage solutions, offering 28 compartments throughout. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 385 L, expandable to 1715 L with the rear seats folded. Additionally, generous headroom and legroom dimensions are provided, with front headroom at 1043 mm, rear headroom at 1061 mm, front legroom at 913 mm, and rear legroom at 870 mm.
