BMW is gearing up to introduce a variety of updates across its lineup. This year, the automaker is making enhancements in several areas, including new engine options, upgraded electric vehicles, and improved standard features.
Beginning with the all-electric i5, both the sedan and wagon variants are benefiting from a series of technical refinements aimed at reducing energy consumption. These improvements include enhanced wheel bearings, tires designed for low rolling resistance, and the incorporation of silicon carbide semiconductor components. As a result of these optimizations, certain versions of the i5 have experienced an increase in driving range by as much as 47 kilometers. Additionally, the high-performance i5 M60 xDrive now comes standard with the M Sport Pro package. Meanwhile, the conventional 5-Series is receiving additional standard equipment, such as a Harman Kardon audio system, ambient lighting, and an interactive bar.
BMW's 2-Series Gran Coupe lineup will see an expansion in April with the introduction of two new variants. The entry-level 216 Gran Coupe is powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that generates 121 horsepower and 230 Newton-meters of torque. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing the front-wheel-drive sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds.
Another new addition to the lineup is the 223 xDrive Gran Coupe, featuring a four-cylinder engine equipped with mild-hybrid technology. While BMW has not disclosed extensive details, it has confirmed that the model delivers a combined output of 215 horsepower and achieves a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.4 seconds.
Focusing on powertrain advancements, the X3 40d xDrive is set to launch in May, equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine paired with mild-hybrid technology. This variant stands as the most powerful diesel option, offering a total output of 299 horsepower and 670 Newton-meters of torque. Built in South Africa, this crossover can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 245 km/h.
Beyond these powertrain upgrades, additional refinements are being made to various models. The BMW XM, along with plug-in hybrid versions of the X1, 2-Series Active Tourer, and 7-Series, will see their AC charging capacity nearly double from 7.4 kW to 11 kW. This upgrade, set to take effect in March, will lead to significantly shorter charging times.
Moreover, BMW is introducing a new tire repair kit and redesigned wheels for the X1 and 2-Series Active Tourer. The X5 and X6 are being equipped with adaptive matrix LED headlights, while the X7 gains the Parking Assistant Professional feature. Finally, customers purchasing the M5 will have access to two new upholstery choices, along with high-gloss black trim featuring a 3D effect.
