The official photos of Chery's future Fengyun A8 PHEV sedan have been released. The A8 might be the Fengyun series' first model to be mass-produced. One of Chery's iconic models from the company's early years was Fengyun, which was eventually phased out in 2016. Then, on September 17, 2023, Chery revived the Fengyun series, placing it on par with the Tiggo, Arrizo, and Tansuo series with an emphasis on new energy vehicles. Chery has so far unveiled the Fengyun-branded A9 car and T11 SUV.
The Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system, which consists of an electric motor and a fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI hybrid engine, powers the powertrain. The electric motor produces 203 HP and 310 Nm, while the engine produces 156 HP and 220 Nm. It takes 7.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. With a complete range of 1,400 km, an official WLTC pure electric cruising range of 107 km, fuel consumption of 4.2 L/100 km, and a top speed of 185 km/h are all included.
The Fengyun A8, positioned as a compact sedan, has the same dimensions as the Arrizo 8: 4780 mm in length, 1843 mm in width, and 1469 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2790 mm. Based on the official photo, it appears that the Fengyun A8 is the same as the Arrizo 8 PHEV that made its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April of this year. Both vehicles have a big grille and the same front face shape. The car badge and the inside of the grille are the only differences.
Both the Fengyun A8 and the Arrizo 8 have the same interior design and layout. A 12.3-inch dual screen, consisting of an instrument panel and a central control screen, is teamed with a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. A rotary knob, a crystal gear shifter, and a wireless charging pad are located in the middle console. At the same time, the Fengyun A8 will have a panoramic sunroof as well as seat ventilation and heating. The Fengyun A8 PHEV is anticipated to go on sale later this year for between $17,700 and $22,000 USD.
