Chery, the renowned automotive manufacturer, marked a significant milestone on December 28 with the production debut of its highly anticipated Fengyun T9 plug-in hybrid SUV at the Qingdao Super Factory. Set to hit the market in the first quarter of the coming year, the Fengyun T9 is poised to revolutionize the automotive landscape with a pricing range of $21,100 to $28,100. The Fengyun series, officially introduced in October, will see the launch of two models this year – the Fengyun A8 and Fengyun T6 – followed by an expanded lineup in 2023, featuring the Fengyun T9, Fengyun A9, and Fengyun T11.
Embodying versatility and innovation, the Fengyun T9 boasts dimensions of 4820 mm in length, 1930 mm in width, 1710 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2820 mm. This plug-in hybrid SUV, derived from the Chery Tiggo 9 platform, offers both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations.
Under the hood, the Fengyun T9 harnesses the potent Kungpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system, integrating a 1.5T engine and permanent magnet synchronous motors. Paired with either a 1DHT or a 3DHT gearbox, the engine delivers an output of 156 hp and 220 Nm, while the motor impressively generates either 203 hp and 310 Nm or 221 hp and 390 Nm. Chery projects an extensive WLTC pure electric cruising range, ranging from 100 km to 160 km, with an overall range surpassing 1,400 km. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.26 seconds, the Fengyun T9 ensures an exhilarating driving experience. Notably, fast charging capability enables a rapid recharge from 30% to 80% in a mere 20 minutes, enhancing convenience for on-the-go charging.
The exterior design of the Fengyun T9 reflects its hybrid prowess, featuring a sleek closed grille design, chrome-plated strips, hidden door handles, and through-type taillights at the rear. The iconic Fengyun English logo 'Fulwin' proudly adorns the vehicle.
Stepping inside the Fengyun T9, occupants are greeted by a modern, blue-and-white-themed interior with a distinctive six-seat layout. Departing from the integrated dual-screen design seen in the Chery Tiggo 9, the Fengyun T9 opts for an independent floating 10-inch full LCD instrument panel and a cutting-edge 15.6-inch 2.5K central control screen, equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip for seamless functionality. A Head-Up Display (HUD) adds to the technological suite, ensuring a sophisticated driving experience.
