Chery Launches Fulwin T8

Chery has officially commenced pre-sales for its highly anticipated Fulwin T8 plug-in hybrid SUV, offering both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations at competitive prices ranging from $15,000 to $21,400. This strategic move expands the existing Fulwin series, which currently encompasses the T6, T9, and T10 SUVs.

The Fulwin T8 seamlessly integrates into the established Fulwin design language, featuring a distinctive octagonal closed grille adorned with a diamond dot matrix pattern and prominently displaying the series logo. The rear profile is characterized by a stylish roof spoiler, a high-mounted brake light, and a sleek through-type taillight group elegantly incorporating the FULWIN lettering.

Dimensionally, the Fulwin T8 boasts substantial proportions, measuring 4730mm in length, 1860mm in width, and 1747mm in height, with a generous 2710mm wheelbase. The 5-seater variant weighs 1879kg, while the 7-seater version adds a slight increment to 1907kg. The vehicle's robust construction incorporates a high-strength steel frame, with an impressive 80% of the body structure composed of high-strength steel and 20.6% utilizing hot-rolled steel for enhanced safety and rigidity.

The Fulwin T8 offers a technologically advanced and driver-centric interior. A 10.25-inch instrument cluster provides essential vehicle information, while a 15.6-inch 2.5K high-definition central control touchscreen, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, serves as the command center. The Lion 5.0 smart cockpit system seamlessly integrates with the user experience, offering 4G network connectivity, intuitive voice recognition and control, and convenient mobile phone APP remote control.

Passenger comfort and safety are paramount, with the Fulwin T8 featuring a comprehensive suite of nine airbags strategically positioned throughout the cabin. Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) provide an additional layer of safety, with an impressive 18 level 2+ features. Powering the Fulwin T8 is a sophisticated plug-in hybrid system offering two engine options. A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine delivers 101 hp and 125 Nm of torque, while a more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged engine generates 154 hp and 220 Nm of torque. Both engine options are seamlessly integrated with a dedicated DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission). A front-mounted electric motor provides robust performance, delivering a substantial 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. The Fulwin T8 offers five distinct driving modes – HEV, EV, Normal, Economy, and Sport – allowing drivers to tailor the vehicle's performance to their specific needs and driving conditions.

The plug-in hybrid system utilizes a lithium iron phosphate battery pack available in two capacities: 18.46 kWh and 18.66 kWh. The smaller battery pack offers a pure electric driving range of 65 km, while the larger pack extends the range to 130 km under the CLTC (China Light-duty Vehicle Test Cycle). The Fulwin T8 boasts exceptional fuel efficiency, with an official fuel consumption rating of 1.30L/100km. The WLTC comprehensive range is estimated at 1200 km, while real-world testing has demonstrated an impressive comprehensive range of 2078.6 km. Fast charging capabilities are impressive, with the ability to replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 19 minutes.
