The Chery Tiggo 7 Sport is gaining attention as more details about its upcoming models have surfaced. The vehicle will be available in both traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions. Reports have emerged indicating that the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport is already being showcased at dealerships, where it has caught the eye of many due to its resemblance, particularly at the front, to certain Land Rover models. This resemblance, especially in the grille and overall front-end design, has sparked comparisons to vehicles like the Range Rover Evoque.

The similarities between the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport and Land Rover models are particularly noticeable in certain design elements. These include the black mesh grille, the positioning of the Chery logo, the shape of the side air inlets, the front skid plate, and the design of the light clusters. While these features might seem familiar to fans of the Range Rover Evoque, it's worth noting that Chery is a joint venture partner of Jaguar Land Rover in China, which may explain some of the design cues shared between the two brands.

In terms of size and dimensions, the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport displays some variation depending on the model. These differences primarily revolve around the length, which is likely due to different fender designs across various versions. Regardless of the model, the vehicle’s height remains constant at 1,670 mm, and the wheelbase is fixed at 2,672 mm. For the ICE variants, the length ranges from 4,538 mm to 4,545 mm, and the width stays consistent at 1,898 mm. Meanwhile, the PHEV model, also known as the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport C-DM, features length variations ranging from 4,501 mm to 4,545 mm and widths of either 1,865 mm or 1,898 mm, depending on the version.

When it comes to weight, the ICE versions of the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport are listed with two different options. The lighter model weighs 1,484 kg, while the heavier version, which comes with an all-wheel-drive system, weighs 1,620 kg. Both ICE models have an approach angle of 20 degrees and a departure angle of 24 degrees, and buyers can choose from 17, 18, or 19-inch wheels. On the other hand, the PHEV version weighs more, tipping the scales at 1,775 kg. This variant is only available with 18 or 19-inch wheels. The approach angle remains the same at 20 degrees, but the departure angle is slightly reduced to 23 degrees.

Both ICE versions are powered by the same engine: the Chery SQRF4J16C, a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 145 kW and torque of up to 290 Nm. The engine is paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. According to data provided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the fuel consumption for the ICE versions is estimated at 6.98 liters per 100 kilometers. Pricing for these models is expected to start at around 100,000 yuan, which is approximately $14,000.

The PHEV variant of the Chery Tiggo 7 Sport is powered by Chery’s Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system. The core of this system is the fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI hybrid engine, internally known as the SQRH4J15, which can deliver up to 115 kW of power. This engine works in tandem with an electric motor to provide the vehicle with enhanced performance. While MIIT has not provided specific details regarding the electric motor, it has been confirmed that the vehicle will be equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery. Additionally, the declared fuel consumption for the PHEV model is an impressive 1.27 liters per 100 kilometers.
