The Cupra Formentor and Cupra Leon have always commanded attention on the road, and now they've undergone their inaugural facelift, bringing forth not only the anticipated aesthetic enhancements but also significant changes beneath the surface.

Cupra's design team has executed a comprehensive overhaul of the front fascias of both models, adopting the distinctive 'shark-nose' front end previously seen on the Terramar SUV. The refreshed iterations boast newly adorned Cupra badging, revamped triangular matrix LED headlights, and an expansive wide grille. Additionally, rear design revisions are evident in both vehicles, showcasing updated taillights and an illuminated Cupra logo.

Numerous modifications extend to the interiors of the Leon and Formentor. These encompass a redesigned center console, incorporation of new materials, and the introduction of bucket seats swathed in 73% recycled microfiber or eco-conscious leather. Cupra has also reimagined the digital instrument cluster and introduced a larger 12.9-inch infotainment display. Notably, both models are equipped with a premium 12-speaker audio system crafted by Sennheiser.

Beneath the surface, both vehicles are underpinned by the VW Group's MQB Evo platform, which remains unchanged. However, the flagship 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, exclusive to the Formentor and Leon Sportstourer variants, has received significant upgrades. Now boasting an impressive output of 328 horsepower, this engine is accompanied by a sophisticated torque splitter, Akebono brakes, and a specialized 'Cupra' driving mode that fine-tunes throttle and transmission responses. Paired exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, this powertrain promises exhilarating performance.

For buyers seeking alternative powertrains, a variety of options are available. These include a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter turbo engine featuring a 48-volt starter-generator, as well as two 1.5-liter plug-in hybrids equipped with a 19.7 kWh battery, delivering 201 horsepower and 268 horsepower respectively. Notably, these plug-in hybrids offer electric driving ranges exceeding 100 kilometers. Additionally, a simplified 2.0-liter engine producing 201 horsepower and featuring all-wheel drive is also on offer, catering to a diverse range of preferences and driving needs.
