Dallara, an Italian racing car chassis expert founded in the early 1970s, is now returning to its roots by releasing the EXP, a hardcore sports vehicle confined to the race track.
The carbon-fiber monocoque of the Dallara EXP is the same as on the street-legal version, but the carbon body has been changed to increase downforce. The EXP is solely a speedster, with a large rear wing and front dive planes capable of producing 1,250 km of downforce at peak speed.
Under the hood is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine from a Ford Focus RS that has been tuned to produce an additional 97 horsepower and 200 Nm over the Stradale. The engine now produces 492 horsepower and 700 Nm, which is impressive for a vehicle weighing 890 kilos. It translates to a power-to-weight ratio of 1 horsepower / 3.98 pounds.
The power is sent to the road via a six-speed sequential gearbox, although the road-legal Stradale is available with a six-speed manual transmission. There's no news on pricing, but the regular Dallara Stradale starts at €191,000, which equates to $226,000 at current currency rates.
