The 2025 Toyota 4Runner shares several similarities with the latest Land Cruiser but comes at a significantly lower price point. Toyota recently announced that the redesigned 4Runner will start at $40,770, excluding a $1,450 destination fee. This new price reflects a minimal increase of just $65 over the outgoing model, despite the upgrades in design and technology. Compared to the Land Cruiser, the 4Runner is a much more affordable option, with a starting price $15,680 less.

The base SR5 and TRD Sport 2WD trims are the only variants priced under $50,000, including the destination fee. Opting for all-wheel drive in the TRD Sport costs an additional $2,000. At the higher end of the range, the Trailhunter and TRD Pro models are priced at $68,350 with destination included. These top trims are slightly more expensive than their Tacoma counterparts; for instance, the Tacoma Trailhunter costs $64,850, while the Tacoma TRD Pro is priced at $65,350.

Standard across all trims is Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, a suite of advanced driver assistance features. These include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Automatic High Beams, and Road Sign Assist. Additional safety highlights include Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

The TRD Sport trim begins at $47,250, marking a noticeable increase compared to its predecessor, which was priced at $43,565. This variant introduces several enhancements, including body-color door handles, a gloss black hood scoop, and power-heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals. It also features a sport-tuned suspension and larger 20-inch wheels with TRD center caps. Inside, the TRD Sport boasts a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, heated front seats, automatic climate control, a wireless smartphone charger, a leather-wrapped shifter, and an AC power outlet in the cargo area.

For off-road enthusiasts, the 4WD-only TRD Off-Road trim starts at $49,190 and features skid plates, 18-inch wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires, an off-road-focused suspension with Bilstein shocks, and a Multi-Terrain Select system with Crawl Control. An Off-Road Premium version is available for $54,970.

The luxury-focused 4Runner Limited, priced at $55,400, includes premium features such as LED headlights, a moonroof, chrome roof rails, 20-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, and heated/ventilated leather front seats. It also shares advanced equipment with the Premium trims, such as a 14-inch infotainment system and a JBL audio system.

Under the hood, the 4Runner comes with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 278 hp and 429 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard configuration is rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive available for $2,000. Fuel efficiency for the rear-wheel-drive version is rated at 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined, while the four-wheel-drive model sees a slight decrease.

Additionally, the i-Force Max Hybrid powertrain pairs the turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with a 1.87 kWh nickel-metal hydride battery and an electric motor integrated into the transmission. This setup produces a combined 326 hp and 630 Nm of torque. Although four-wheel drive is standard, fuel efficiency is modest, at 23 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.

Toyota has not provided a specific release date for the 2025 4Runner but expects it to arrive at dealerships in early 2025.
