Because the new Mustang Mach-E is already more popular in Europe, Ford Mondeo manufacture in Valencia, Spain will terminate in late March 2022.
Through the third quarter of 2021, the electric SUV has sold 15,602 units. The Mondeo only sold 10,427 units in the same nine months of the year. It demonstrates how customer tastes are shifting, with SUVs remaining popular while EVs becoming more popular.
The Mustang Mach-E was not even mentioned in Ford's sales charts for the first two quarters of the year, but it was available for Q3 2021 data, generating 10,161 units, roughly three times the Mondeo in all three body styles: liftback, sedan, and wagon. Even with any relevant EV incentives, the Mustang Mach-E is more expensive than the Mondeo.
Because the Mondeo is one of Ford's slowest-selling models in Europe, its replacement is anticipated to arrive in the form of a tough Subaru Outback rather than a sedan.
In a few aspects, the Mach-E is similar to the Mustang. This extended-range, all-wheel-drive arrangement produces 346 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. The Mach-E sprints to 60 in 4.8 seconds, with the sole difference being that torque is instantaneous.
Every Mach-E, including the lowest Select trim, comes equipped with Ford's sophisticated Co-Pilot 360 active safety equipment. The hardware for the future Active Drive Assist is the only component that isn't included in the base model.
The Co-Pilot 360 package adds a few capabilities to the Mach-E that aren't available on other Ford vehicles. Evasive steering, post-collision braking, and even Intersection Assist, which alerts you of an oncoming car when making a left turn into traffic, are all included as standard features.
The Mach-E First Edition has a range of 270 miles thanks to its extended-range, 88.0-kilowatt-hour battery pack and all-wheel drive. With the expanded battery pack, the rear-wheel-drive variant is marginally superior, offering 305 miles of range.
