Ford Recalls Models for Fuel Injector O-Ring and O-Ring Support Disc Issues

A recent recall issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has revealed a potential safety hazard in several Ford and Lincoln models. It appears that a number of vehicles produced between 2023 and 2025 may be missing crucial components from their fuel injectors: o-rings and o-ring support discs.

These small but essential parts play a vital role in preventing fuel leaks, which can pose a significant fire risk. If left unchecked, missing o-rings could lead to small leaks that, over time, could escalate into a more serious problem. Ford has attributed the issue to a potential manufacturing error on the part of Bosch, their supplier.

Owners of affected vehicles may notice several warning signs, including a strong fuel odor both inside and outside the car. Additionally, the fuel leak could make it difficult to start the engine, leaving drivers stranded.

Ford has taken steps to address the issue promptly. Dealers have been instructed to halt the sale of any new vehicles that are part of the recall until the problem can be resolved. A detailed Dealer Bulletin, including parts ordering information and repair instructions, is expected to be released in late September.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified of the recall and can schedule a repair appointment with their local Ford or Lincoln dealership. The repair process involves replacing the missing o-rings and o-ring support discs, a relatively straightforward procedure. For owners who have already paid out of pocket to address the issue, Ford has committed to providing compensation.
