The Ford Equator Sport, a mid-size SUV sold in China, has recently received a facelift. This marks the second major update to the model since its original launch in 2021. The refreshed Equator Sport features a redesigned front end, new wheel options, and additional exterior colors.
While the exterior has undergone significant changes, the interior updates are less noticeable. The SUV retains its dual 12.3-inch digital displays but now boasts an upgraded 10-speaker audio system. It's worth noting that other Ford models built in China, such as the Evos, Mondeo, and Explorer, feature larger and more impressive 27-inch screens.
Under the hood, the Equator Sport continues to offer a turbocharged 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, producing 168 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In addition to the non-electrified version, Ford will soon introduce a plug-in hybrid variant, combining a gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total output of 215 horsepower.
The facelifted Equator Sport is slightly longer than its predecessor, measuring 4,685 mm compared to 4,630 mm. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,726 mm.
Pricing for the updated Equator Sport has yet to be announced. The current model is priced between ¥126,800 and ¥165,500 (approximately $18,100 to $23,500).
Ford Equator Sport facelift aims to keep the model competitive in the Chinese SUV market by offering a more modern and stylish appearance, along with the option of a fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid powertrain.
