The passenger version of the 2024 Ford Transit Custom range was unveiled this week, following the range's debut. The MPV will be offered in diesel, plug-in hybrid, electric, and the more daring Active versions. Fort Otosan in Kocaeli, Turkey, manufactures the Ford Tourneo Custom line. The first European deliveries are scheduled for mid-2023.
A Transit Custom with rear windows is essentially what the new Ford Tourneo Custom is. The Titanium X has the most upscale appearance of the group, featuring full matrix LED lighting and standard 19-inch alloy wheels. Each trim comes in a variety of powertrain configurations. Plastic cladding, skid plates, and roof rails are included on the crossover-style Active, while bumper and side skirt extensions are added to the Sport.
The Tourneo Custom's interior has a three-row layout, allowing it to accommodate up to eight passengers in the EV version and up to nine passengers in the PHEV and diesel versions. In both situations, the rear seats have various interior configuration options, including the ability to slide, fold, or be entirely removed. The power sliding doors and built-in side steps make it simple to enter the cabin.
The tilting steering wheel can be converted into a small table for the driver, and the dashboard features a wireless charging pad, a 13-inch touchscreen for the SYNC 4 infotainment system, ambient lighting, a digital instrument cluster, and nifty storage compartments.
A 5G modem, digital key cards with NFC technology, a B&O audio system with 14 speakers and a subwoofer, and an optional panoramic glass roof are additional features.
A full selection of ADAS, including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, are offered in terms of safety.
The E-Tourneo Custom, one of the four fully electric Ford Pro models scheduled to arrive in Europe by 2024, is the focus in terms of powertrains. The EV has a single electric motor that generates 214 horsepower and 415 Nm of torque. According to Ford, the electric vehicle is capable of towing 2,000 kg.
The 74 kWh battery pack has a range of 370 km, which is 10 km less than what the E-Transit WLTP estimates. The battery can be charged by the onboard 11 kW standard AC charger in eight hours, but it is also compatible with 120 kW DC fast charging, which can restore 38 km of range in five minutes.
The E-Tourneo Custom is built on a new platform with a lower floor height than the model it replaces and an independent rear suspension.
The EcoBlue diesel is available in three different power outputs: 134 horsepower, 148 horsepower, or 168 horsepower. A six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission are available. Ford offers an all-wheel-drive option for the automatic Tourneo Custom and a mechanical limited-slip differential at the front axle as an option for those who need more traction. The Ford Tourneo Custom, an all-wheel-drive diesel vehicle, has the highest braked towing capacity (2,500 kg) when paired with a foldable towbar.
The plug-in hybrid model will have both an electric motor and a 2.5-liter gasoline engine. There will be no emissions for 50 kilometers thanks to the 11.8 kWh battery.
