For the Chinese market, GAC introduced the M8's second version. The model, which is available with gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains, is centered on luxury, technology, and spaciousness.

The M8 does appear more upscale than its predecessor and is expected to compete with the Buick GL8. With dimensions of 5,212 mm long, 1,893 mm wide, and 1,823 mm height, and a roomy 3,070 mm wheelbase, the GAC M8 is bigger than its predecessor.

The chrome-infused grille in the Lexus style dominates the front end. This grille is known by GAC as "Soaring Wings 2.0."

The profile features sliding doors, a big greenhouse, and small-diameter wheels that are typical of minivans. A chrome skirt, a large rear wing, and sophisticated LED taillights are added to the back end with the large tailgate.

The 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster within are the vehicle's highlights. An illuminated gear knob that is situated high on the center console and matches the color of the ambient lighting.

The cabin can be decorated in one of two styles: the understated "Black and White" scheme or the opulent "Royal Opera," which features crimson, gold, and white hues. Cantonese embroidery serves as the inspiration for the upholstery on the seatbacks and door panels, with semi-aniline leather serving as the material for the rest of the interior. With the third row folding and the second-row sliding, the seating configuration is adaptable, turning the seven-seat MPV into a four-seat mobile conference room.

The company stated it will offer the M8 in petrol-only, full hybrid, and plug-in hybrid guises but did not provide further details on the powertrains. The Toyota Hybrid System, most likely in conjunction with a 2.0-liter engine made in-house, will be used in the electrified versions.

Beginning in November 2022, China will have access to the M8 of the second generation.
