Geely Galaxy Starship 7 PHEV Costs Less Than $14K

Geely's latest offering, the Galaxy Starship 7 plug-in hybrid SUV, has officially launched in China. Available in five trim levels, this stylish SUV is priced competitively between 99,800 and 132,800 yuan (approximately 13,700 to 18,300 USD).

Built on Geely's advanced GEA global AI new energy architecture, the Starship 7 boasts impressive dimensions: 4,740 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, 1,685 mm in height, and a 2,755 mm wheelbase. The vehicle's curb weight varies between 1,610 kg and 1,724 kg. Geely's GEA architecture is designed to accommodate a variety of powertrain options, including pure electric, hybrid, range-extended, and even green methanol.

The Starship 7's futuristic design is highlighted by a closed front grille, a sleek LED light strip, and distinctive split headlights. The rear end features a rounded design with full-width taillights. With an impressive drag coefficient of 0.288Cd, the SUV offers both style and efficiency. Customers can choose from six exterior colors: green, silver, black, blue, gray, and white.

Inside, the cabin offers ample storage space with 34 compartments throughout. The trunk provides a standard capacity of 528 liters (expandable to 2,065 liters with the rear seats folded) and includes a hidden 100-liter storage area. The spacious interior boasts a generous light-transmitting area of 3.3 square meters.

The dual-tone cockpit exudes a premium feel with soft materials and fine stitching. The interior is equipped with a state-of-the-art Flyme Auto smart cockpit system, featuring a flat-bottom steering wheel, a 13.8-inch W-HUD, a 10.2-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a 14.6-inch central control screen. The comfortable marshmallow SPA seats offer 14-point massage functionality, heating, and ventilation. The intelligent ventilation and heating system automatically adjusts settings based on seat occupancy. Additional features include 50W wireless charging, a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system, sentry mode, remote control via app, keyless entry, and V2L/V2V charging capabilities.

The Starship 7 also offers advanced driver-assistance features, including emergency lane-keeping assist, intelligent cruise control, and traffic jam assist.

Under the hood, the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i is powered by Geely's latest NordThor EM-i super hybrid system. This system combines a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with an electric motor and an E-DHT transmission. The system also incorporates a silicon carbide electric drive and an AI intelligent energy management system, which optimizes energy usage based on various factors such as road conditions, driving area, altitude, and slope.

Two lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack options are available: 8.05 kWh and 19.09 kWh, providing CLTC pure electric ranges of 55 km and 120 km, respectively. With a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery, the Starship 7 offers a combined range of up to 1,420 km. The vehicle boasts a fuel consumption rating of 3.75 liters per 100 kilometers, a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds, a top speed of 180 km/h, and a fast charging time of 20 minutes from 30% to 80% battery charge.
