Geely Unveils the Galaxy Starship

Geely has recently unveiled the first images of its upcoming midsize SUV, the Galaxy Starship 7. This new model will be the first to feature the brand's latest Thor super electric hybrid technology, which is a plug-in hybrid system. The Starship 7 is expected to make its official debut in the Chinese market later this year.

The Galaxy Starship 7 is built on Geely's new Global Energy Architecture (GEA) platform. It measures 4,740 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, and 1,685 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm. Despite its futuristic name, the SUV's design is relatively conventional, drawing inspiration from established models like the Porsche Macan and Cayenne. The front end features a sleek, grille-less design with high-tech LED headlights and a distinctive Geely Galaxy emblem.

The interior of the Starship 7 is similarly conventional, featuring a large infotainment touchscreen and a smaller digital instrument cluster. The center console houses a wireless charging pad and physical controls for various functions. The interior also boasts a stylish ambient lighting system that runs through the dashboard and door cards.

The Starship 7 will be offered with two plug-in hybrid powertrain options, both combining a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a single electric motor. The battery packs, sourced from SVOLT, will be available in two capacities: 19.09 kWh and 28.94 kWh. These batteries will provide an electric-only range of 101 km and 150 km, respectively.

Geely plans to expand its Galaxy lineup to seven models by 2025, all of which will feature either plug-in hybrid or fully electric powertrains. The Galaxy sub-brand, positioned below the premium Zeekr brand, aims to offer a range of stylish and technologically advanced vehicles to Chinese consumers.
