Genesis introduced the GV80 Coupe last fall, and now we finally know how much it will cost. Starting at $79,950, it’s certainly more expensive than the standard GV80, which isn't surprising. Though the high price might initially cause some sticker shock, there's a reason for it. The GV80 Coupe comes in two well-equipped trims and skips the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine found in the entry-level versions of the regular model.
Design-wise, the GV80 Coupe is striking. It features LED lighting units, a panoramic glass roof, and 20-inch alloy wheels. On the outside, you’ll also find a dual exhaust system, a hands-free power liftgate, and power-folding side mirrors with puddle lamps that project the Genesis logo onto the ground, adding a touch of sophistication.
Inside, the GV80 Coupe really shines. It boasts a 27-inch OLED display, a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, and matte wood trim. The Nappa leather seats offer power adjustment, heating, and ventilation for both front and rear passengers, making for a very comfortable ride.
That’s just the beginning. The GV80 Coupe also features a heated steering wheel, a heated front armrest, and a microfiber suede headliner. Other highlights include a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and a tri-zone climate control system. You'll also find HomeLink, a wireless smartphone charger, and a fingerprint authentication system, which adds a layer of convenience and security.
In terms of safety and driver assistance, the GV80 Coupe is packed with features. It includes Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist as standard. The list of safety features is extensive, with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping and Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, and a Blind-Spot View Monitor. Additionally, it has Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, High Beam Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, and a Surround View Monitor.
Under the hood, the GV80 Coupe has a powerful twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 375 hp and 530 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with standard all-wheel drive. It also features an electronic limited-slip differential and an electronically controlled suspension with road preview technology.
For those seeking even more performance, there’s the GV80 3.5 e-Supercharger Coupe AWD, starting at $85,750. This variant includes a 48V electric supercharger, boosting the power output to 409 hp and 548 Nm of torque.
The top-tier model also comes with larger 22-inch wheels, black brake calipers, a four-tailpipe exhaust system, carbon fiber trim, and alloy pedals. These features not only enhance performance but also give the GV80 Coupe a distinctive and sporty look.
The GV80 Coupe justifies its higher price with a wealth of features, powerful performance, and luxurious touches both inside and out, making it a strong contender in the luxury SUV market.
