Genesis has unveiled its latest addition to its growing lineup of dark-themed vehicles: the G80 Black. This exclusive edition joins the ranks of the G90 sedan and the GV80 and GV80 Coupe SUVs, all showcasing a captivating black aesthetic. While information regarding the G80 Electrified receiving the Black treatment remains undisclosed, the current focus lies on the gasoline-powered variants.
The G80 Black offers Korean consumers a choice between two potent engines. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing a respectable 300 horsepower, while enthusiasts can opt for the exhilarating 3.5-liter turbo V6 boasting an impressive 375 horsepower. Regardless of the engine chosen, power is seamlessly transferred to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, ensuring a dynamic and engaging driving experience.
As the name suggests, the exterior of the G80 Black embraces a striking all-black aesthetic. Every chrome element, from the imposing grille and aggressive intakes to the elegant emblems and refined bumper inserts, has been meticulously transformed into a deep, lustrous black. The attention to detail is evident even in the finer aspects, with the inner bezels of the lighting units and the advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) radar cover also receiving the black treatment. Complementing this dark exterior are 20-inch glossy black alloy wheels, further enhancing the vehicle's imposing presence. These wheels are adorned with unique floating center caps, reminiscent of the luxury and sophistication found in Rolls-Royce vehicles. The only deviation from the monochromatic theme is the subtle dark gray Genesis lettering elegantly displayed on the tailgate.
The commitment to a blacked-out aesthetic extends seamlessly into the meticulously crafted interior. Every element, from the meticulously engineered switchgear and responsive paddle shifters to the sleek side sills, the high-fidelity speakers, and the elegant emblems, is finished in a refined black hue. The luxurious quilted leather seats, designed for both comfort and style, further contribute to the vehicle's opulent ambiance. The interior is further enhanced by the inclusion of Black Ash Realwood inserts, adding a touch of natural elegance to the dashboard, center console, and door cards. Finally, the captivating 27-inch digital cockpit, a prominent feature introduced during the G80's mid-lifecycle update, showcases exclusive welcome and goodbye animations, creating a truly personalized and engaging user experience.
The G80 Black is now available for purchase in its home market of Korea, with prices starting at $56,700. Notably, an Australian launch has been confirmed for later in 2025, marking a significant milestone as it will be the first Black edition by Genesis to grace the Australian market. This expansion signifies the growing global appeal of Genesis and its commitment to delivering exclusive and captivating vehicles to discerning customers worldwide.
