Great Wall Motor's Tank 700 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid body-on-frame off-road SUV made its formal debut in China. Delivery of it will begin in 2024. GWM received approval to begin manufacture of the gasoline-powered Tank 700 in January 2023. The sales license is still required for the PHEV version, though.
Great Wall Motor introduced Tank in 2021. The Tank 300 SUV is the brand-new model. It was once marketed under the Wey brand, which is owned by GWM. Tank is now a stand-alone brand as a result of its commercial success. Three vehicles make up its model line: Tank 300, Tank 400 Hi4-T, and Tank 500. The Tank 700 Hi4-T will be available soon as well.
Huge headlamps, broad wheel arches, a sharp front bumper, and a slot in the bonnet characterize the tough Tank 700 Hi4-T SUV. It features an aggressive rear diffuser and a roof spoiler on the back. It features a swing-out trunk door that is equipped with a spare wheel. With 275/50 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires, the 700 Hi4-T is equipped with R22 wheels. The large wheel arches on the Tank 700 Hi4-T make it appear overly hefty. Wheels are yet another styling point of contention. The "Mechanic Beasts" series of the brand includes the Tank 700 Hi4-T. Off-road vehicles are the focus of this series. But the 700 Hi4-T is equipped with standard road tires. Overall, this off-roader's styling is erratic.
In terms of size, the Tank 700 Hi4-T is a relatively big vehicle. It measures 5113 mm long, 2061 mm wide, 1952 mm tall and a wheelbase of 3000 mm.
The Tank 400 Hi4-T features a three-spoke steering wheel, numerous physical controls, and a sizable touchscreen. It's important to note that there are just five chairs inside.
Its engine is a 3-liter bi-turbo V6 with 500 Nm and 360 horsepower under the hood. It is coupled with an electric motor and a 9AT transmission. This powertrain generates 517 horsepower and 750 Nm of total power.
The third plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) to carry the Tank name is the Tank 700 Hi4-T. However, it will be the first vehicle to use a 3-liter V6-powered Hi4-T technology. An inline 4-cylinder, 2-liter engine powers further PHEV variants sold under the Tank brand.
The Tank 700 Hi4-T's price has yet to be published. This vehicle has a possibility to make its public debut at the upcoming Guangzhou Auto Show.
