The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 9 is set to arrive at dealerships soon, offering a range of features that make it an exciting addition to the electric SUV market. The entry-level model, the Ioniq 9 S, will have a starting price of $60,555, including the $1,600 destination charge. This version is a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive model that generates 215 horsepower and boasts an impressive range of up to 335 miles on a single charge.

For those looking for more performance, the Performance Calligraphy Design trim sits at the top of the lineup, with a price tag of $78,090. In addition to this, there are five other trims, each featuring dual motors and all-wheel drive. The SE and SEL trims offer 303 horsepower, providing a range of up to 320 miles. For the three Performance trims, these models deliver 422 horsepower and can travel up to 311 miles on a full charge. Hyundai has also claimed that the fastest version of the Ioniq 9 can reach 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds.

At the heart of every Ioniq 9 model is a 110.3 kWh NMC lithium-ion battery pack, which is one of the largest currently offered in the consumer EV segment. The base version, the Ioniq 9 RWD S, is powered by a single 215-horsepower electric motor driving the rear wheels. Despite being the entry-level trim, it boasts an impressive EPA-estimated range of 539 kilometers (about 335 miles), making it the longest-range variant in the Ioniq 9 lineup. By comparison, the entry-level Kia EV9 begins at $54,900 but includes a smaller 76.1 kWh battery and a notably shorter range of 370 km (230 miles). Even the more expensive EV9 trims top out with a 99.8 kWh battery and a maximum range of 489 km (304 miles), meaning the Ioniq 9 offers better range for the money.

Hyundai has also announced five additional Ioniq 9 trims for the U.S. market, all of which feature all-wheel drive (AWD) thanks to a dual-motor setup. The Ioniq 9 AWD SE starts at $62,765 and delivers 303 hp with a slightly reduced but still respectable range of 515 km (320 miles). Above this is the more upscale AWD SEL, beginning at $66,320, which maintains the same powertrain and driving range but adds more comfort and tech features.

The top-tier options fall under the Performance label. The Performance Limited model produces 422 hp, offers 500 km (311 miles) of range, and starts at $71,250. Further up the hierarchy is the Performance Calligraphy, priced from $74,990, and the fully-loaded Performance Calligraphy Design, which comes in at $76,490. These high-end variants are tailored for buyers seeking both performance and luxury in an electric SUV.

When it comes to size, the Ioniq 9 spans nearly 200 inches in length, with a wheelbase of 123.2 inches, providing ample space inside. The three-row SUV offers a massive 80.7 inches of legroom, combining the space from both the second and third rows, making it ideal for families or those who prioritize comfort. Its interior also benefits from 74.8 inches of headroom, thanks to its distinct roof design and a flat floor, which cleverly conceals the 110.3-kilowatt-hour battery pack.

The Ioniq 9 joins Hyundai’s growing electric vehicle portfolio, which already includes the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Kona Electric. This vehicle will be manufactured at Hyundai’s plant in Georgia. In comparison, the Ioniq 9 is similar to the Kia EV9, another electric SUV from Hyundai’s sibling brand. However, the Kia EV9 is priced slightly lower, starting at $57,090.

Overall, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 offers an exciting mix of performance, range, and space, making it a compelling choice for buyers seeking a practical yet high-performance electric SUV.
