Jaguar Land Rover Recalls Thousands of Vehicles

Jaguar Land Rover has issued two separate recalls affecting a range of its popular models in the United States. While these recalls address distinct issues, they both share a common consequence: the potential malfunction of the rearview camera display, posing a safety risk to drivers and passengers.

The first recall encompasses 28,370 vehicles, including 2023 Land Rover Discovery Sport models produced between April 18, 2023, and September 8, 2023, 2023-2024 Land Rover Defenders manufactured from December 15, 2022, to June 28, 2024, and 2023 Range Rover Evoques assembled between March 22, 2023, and March 23, 2023. The root cause of this issue lies within the 10-inch infotainment display. A software timing mismatch can lead to the touchscreen blanking upon startup, rendering the rearview camera inoperable. This unexpected failure significantly compromises driver visibility, potentially increasing the risk of accidents, particularly during parking maneuvers and low-visibility conditions.

Jaguar Land Rover initially investigated a potential issue in March, concluding in June that no corrective action was necessary. However, subsequent field reports prompted a renewed investigation in October. To date, the company has received 1,025 claims and field reports related to this issue. To address this safety concern, Jaguar Land Rover will implement a software update to rectify the timing issue within the infotainment system. Impacted owners will be notified by mail before March 14, 2025, and are encouraged to schedule a service appointment at their nearest authorized Jaguar Land Rover dealership for the necessary software update, which will be performed free of charge.

The second recall specifically targets 2019-2020 Jaguar XE sedans produced between June 18, 2018, and September 10, 2020. This recall stems from potential damage to the wiring within the vehicle's trunk, which can intermittently or permanently disrupt the rearview camera's functionality. While Jaguar Land Rover has received only 5 claims and field reports related to this issue, and no accidents, injuries, or fires have been reported, the company is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its customers.

Similar to the first recall, impacted owners will be notified by mail before March 14, 2025. Jaguar Land Rover dealerships will inspect the camera cable and, if necessary, repair or replace it to restore proper functionality.

These recalls underscore Jaguar Land Rover's commitment to vehicle safety and customer satisfaction. By proactively addressing these issues, the company aims to ensure the continued safety and reliability of its vehicles while maintaining its position as a leading manufacturer of luxury automobiles.
