Jaguar Land Rover has issued a recall for select vehicles equipped with a faulty 3D Surround Camera system. The recall is due to a potential issue with the Near Field Sensing Module (NFSM) that could cause the camera system to malfunction.
The NFSM contains two silicone chips that can experience temperature differences. This temperature differential can cause the module to enter reset mode, preventing images from being displayed on the 3D Surround Camera. The problem arises from the lack of thermal interface material in certain components, which can lead to overheating during extended vehicle use.
A faulty camera system can compromise safety standards, increasing the risk of pedestrian injuries. Jaguar Land Rover has issued two separate recalls to address the issue.
The first recall affects five examples of the 2024 Jaguar F-Pace built between September 5, 2023, and October 25, 2023. The second recall includes 180 Land Rover vehicles from the 2024 model year. These vehicles include Land Rover Defenders, Discovery Sports, Range Rovers, Range Rover Evoques, Range Rover Velar models, and select Range Rover Sports.
Jaguar Land Rover has not received any reports of accidents, injuries, or fires related to the faulty camera system. Dealers have been instructed to replace the NFSM module at no cost to the owners. Owners will be notified of the recall starting October 25.
This recall highlights the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and timely updates to address potential safety issues.
