The new Torres EVX electric SUV was officially unveiled by KG Mobility, previously SsangYong Motor. The Torres electric vehicle is the first production model to feature the KG Mobility logo.
The Torres EVX differs from the standard Torres in appearance because of its newly styled front, which features thinner LED headlights, an illuminated grille, and new bumper intakes. The taillights include distinctive LED graphics and the tailgate still has a distinctive bulge that resembles a spare wheel cover. The silhouette is maintained with a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels. The dimensions of the electric SUV from KG Mobility are 4,715 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,725 mm high.
Faux leather upholstery, a digital cockpit with two 12.3-inch screens set in a single panel, wood accents on the dashboard, and a floating center console are all inside. Even though it was only released a year ago, this configuration differs from the Torres in other ways as well. Five passengers may fit in the cabin, and the enormous 839 lt boot is larger than the 703 lt boot of the ICE-powered variant. A panoramic sunroof is also available as an option.
201 horsepower is produced by a single front-mounted electric motor installed in the KG Mobility Torres EVX. Despite its tough exterior, the SUV only has front-wheel drive. According to the company's WLTP estimations, the 73.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack from BYD provides 500 km of electric range, or more than 420 km when assessed under Korea's circle.
Although the petrol-powered variant is the only one with an all-wheel-drive option, the electric Torres EVX is more potent than the ICE-powered Torres, which has 168 horsepower from a 1.5 T-GDI engine.
The Torres EVX is available in two trim levels, the E5 and the E7, according to the official configurator on the Korean website of KG Mobility. The only differences between them are in the equipment and the cost because both use identical powerplants and batteries.
In more detail, the E5 is priced at $37,918 while the E7 costs $39,833. With all of the subsidies for electric versions combined, the cost can be as low as $22,978, which is comparable to the starting price of the ICE-powered Torres, which is $20,609.
The Torres EVX will be made available outside of KG Mobility's native market of South Korea; a debut in Europe is anticipated for the second half of the year, followed by launches in Australia.
