At Auto Shanghai, the Lexus RZ Outdoor concept makes its debut as a more challenging version of the company's electric SUV. Even though it's a one-off, the firm wants it to demonstrate what can be done when adapting the model for off-road excursions.
Strong BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires with white writing on the sidewall, KC lights at each corner of the front, and LED stripes on the front and roof are all clear additions made by Lexus' designers. Drivers will benefit from matte black trim that reduces glare from the sun, but Lexus just can't help but love a little glint, so it chose high-gloss paint for the nose, hood, roof, and trunk to contrast with the gold color of the rest of the car.
Genuine efforts have been made to prevent scratches on the Outdoor should it ever leave the garage, such as chip-resistant black paint on the rocker panels and skid plates at both ends. Eight-spoke black wheels with large 265/60R18 BFGoodrich all-terrain tires are mounted on the Outdoor Concept. Lexus also reports a 20-mm lift in the ride height.
Two electric motors in the RZ450e produce a combined output of 308 horsepower and 321 pound-feet of torque. This enables it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds. The electrical cap on the top speed is 99 miles per hour. The 71.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack in the Lexus offers a maximum driving range of 220 miles.
The starting price of the 2023 RZ450e in the US is $59,650 after destination charges. The Luxury trim, which is finer, raises the cost to $65,150. The price of the EV reaches a maximum of $72,209 if you want every option and accessory. Lexus has no plans to put the Outdoor Concept into production; it's simply a little bit of fun for the auto show.
