Lexus Unveils Limited-Run RC and RC F Final Editions

Author: |

Lexus is preparing to discontinue production of its RC and RC F coupes, marking the occasion with limited-edition "Final Edition" models in Japan. Only 200 units of each will be produced, with production ceasing by November 2025. These special editions boast unique design elements, both inside and out.

The RC Final Edition distinguishes itself with 19-inch Enkei alloy wheels featuring a distinctive "sputtering paint" finish, red brake calipers, and black mirror caps with smoked inserts. The more aggressive RC F Final Edition elevates the style with 19-inch BBS forged alloy wheels in a striking Metal Star Gloss Black finish, also complemented by red brake calipers. Beyond the smoked mirror accents, the RC F showcases a range of carbon fiber components, including the splitter, side skirts, diffuser, active rear wing, and roof, further emphasizing its performance-oriented character. Both models offer a selection of exterior colors, with the RC boasting nine options and the RC F providing seven, including the newly introduced Sonic Iridium.

Inside, a luxurious "Black & Flare Red" trim adorns both models, along with Final Edition badges. Ultrasuede upholstery with contrasting red stitching and carbon fiber inserts create a sporty and sophisticated ambiance. The RC F further enhances this with the inclusion of performance-oriented bucket seats. To add a special touch, Lexus has incorporated a unique welcome sequence on the instrument cluster for these limited-edition models.

Mechanically, both models remain unchanged. The RC Final Edition is available with a choice of 2.0-liter, hybrid 2.5-liter, and 3.5-liter V6 engines. The RC F retains its powerful naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine, delivering 467 horsepower, and remains exclusively rear-wheel-drive with a limited-slip differential.

Since its introduction in 2014, the RC has garnered respectable sales figures, with approximately 79,000 units sold across 62 countries. The performance-focused RC F, while a niche competitor to the BMW M4, has found 12,000 buyers in 57 markets. Despite not achieving blockbuster status, Lexus views these Final Editions as an expression of gratitude to the loyal customers who have embraced these coupes.

While Lexus remains tight-lipped about a potential successor to the RC, reports from Japan suggest that a new two-door 2+2 coupe may be in development. This enigmatic model could potentially replace both the RC and the more luxurious LC coupe, offering a fresh perspective in the luxury coupe segment. The RC and RC F Final Editions are currently available for order in Japan. Pricing starts at $42,700 for the RC300 Final Edition and reaches $87,300 for the V8-powered RC F Final Edition.
