Lotus Emira Clark Edition Pays Tribute to Racing Legend

Author: |

Lotus has ventured away from its traditional “simplify and add lightness” philosophy, but with the release of the new Emira Clark Edition, the brand is paying homage to its racing heritage. This special edition celebrates the legacy of legendary driver Jim Clark, who triumphed in the 1965 Indianapolis 500 and claimed the Formula 1 World Championship the same year. Inspired by the iconic Lotus Type 38, which Clark piloted to his Indy victory, the Emira Clark Edition features a distinctive design that captures the essence of his racing achievements.

Externally, the car is finished in Clark Racing Green, a color that echoes Clark’s Indianapolis-winning vehicle. The contrasting black roof further emphasizes the racing aesthetic, while silver mirrors and a bold yellow racing stripe add flair to the exterior. The design also includes hand-painted yellow pinstripes, a unique touch that enhances its motorsport-inspired appearance. The exhaust tips are finished in yellow, and the Clark Edition badging serves as a reminder of its exclusive status. The car also boasts a machined aluminum fuel filler cap with a blue anodized center, contributing to its performance-oriented design.

Inside, the asymmetrical interior design stands out, with the driver’s seat upholstered in a striking combination of red leather and Alcantara, while the passenger seat is finished in black leather and Alcantara. The cabin features additional red accents on the steering wheel and dashboard, which complement the retro-inspired wooden gear knob that adds a classic touch. Jim Clark’s signature adorns the dashboard, paying tribute to the racing legend. A special plaque, highlighting Clark’s groundbreaking achievements in 1965, is integrated into the seats. The cabin is also accented with Clark Edition badging and carbon fiber treadplates inscribed with “1 of 60,” emphasizing the exclusivity of the model.

Under the hood, the Emira Clark Edition is powered by the same supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine found in the Emira V6. This engine delivers an impressive 400 hp and 420 Nm of torque, enabling the coupe to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in just 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, ensuring an engaging and dynamic driving experience.
