Mahindra is stepping into a new era with the introduction of two electric coupe-SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e. These cutting-edge vehicles represent a bold shift in Mahindra's portfolio, offering modern styling, advanced technology, and premium features. Expected to hit Indian dealerships in early 2025, these models signal Mahindra's intent to compete in the growing EV market.

Mahindra XEV 9e

Both vehicles are built on Mahindra’s new INGLO electric platform, which features a rear-wheel-drive configuration, semi-active dampers, five-link rear suspension, and brake-by-wire technology. Despite sharing a wheelbase of 2,775 mm, the two SUVs cater to different segments due to a length difference of 419 mm. The XEV 9e, measuring 4,790 mm in length, is slightly longer than a Tesla Model Y and boasts a spacious interior with a 665-liter boot and a 150-liter frunk. In contrast, the BE 6e, though smaller, offers sharp, aggressive styling with ultra-slim LED lights, while the XEV 9e opts for a more refined, modern look.

Inside, both SUVs showcase futuristic design elements. The BE 6e draws inspiration from fighter jets, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens, augmented-reality Heads Up Display (HUD), Tron-style ambient lighting, and gaming-chair-inspired seats. It also has a boot capacity of 455 liters and a 45-liter frunk. The XEV 9e steps up the luxury with triple 12.3-inch screens, an illuminated panoramic roof, premium materials, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos. These features ensure both models offer a high-tech and immersive in-cabin experience.

Performance-wise, the SUVs are powered by a single electric motor delivering 228 hp or 282 hp, depending on the trim. They can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 6.7-6.8 seconds. Battery options include 59 kWh and 79 kWh LFP units, reportedly sourced from Volkswagen Group, offering ranges of up to 550 km for the BE 6e and 533 km for the XEV 9e under WLTP standards. With a 175 kW fast charger, the batteries can charge from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes.

Technologically, Mahindra has equipped these SUVs with Artificial Intelligence Architecture powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and sixth-generation Adreno GPU. Safety features include seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitoring, and remote parking—rarely found in vehicles targeting the Indian market.

Pricing starts at $22,400 for the BE 6e and $25,900 for the XEV 9e, with deliveries expected to begin in February or March 2025. These vehicles mark a significant milestone for Mahindra as it ventures into the premium EV market.
