The most recent plug-in hybrid performance sedan from the German manufacturer, the 2023 Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance, debuts. This week, Mercedes-AMG unveiled its most potent sedan, a marked improvement over the most recent AMG S-Class despite the older model's V12 dual turbocharged engine.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and an electric motor placed on the back axle power the S 63 E Performance. A healthy 791 horsepower and 1,430 Newton meters are produced overall. With this, the sedan can reach 96 kph in about 3.2 seconds. The AMG Driver's Package is standard equipment in the US and allows for a top speed of 290 kph. In Europe, this modification is an option, and without it, the vehicle loses steam at 250 kph.

With a meager 13.1 kWh capacity, the battery installed above that axle offers a disappointing 33 km range. It has a two-speed transmission, and at about 140 kph, it enters second gear. The peak output for the twin-turbo V8 is 603 horsepower at 5,500 to 6,500 rpm. There is a maximum torque of 900 Nm between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm.

The all-wheel-drive system is coupled to a nine-speed automatic as the transmission for the ICE section of the powerplant. There are 2.5 degrees of steering on the back axle.

At speeds over 121 kph, the adjustable air suspension on the S 63 E Performance allows the sedan to be lowered by 1.02 cm. Additionally, it incorporates active roll stabilization, which lessens body roll when turning.

15-inch rotors with single-piston stoppers at the back and 15.7-inch discs with six-piston calipers up front are used for braking. Ceramic-composite components can be upgraded if desired.

Mercedes' Level 3 Drive Pilot automated system enables users to work or watch movies while driving along specific stretches of road at up to 60 km/h.

A normal S-Class looks slightly less aggressive than the S 63 E Performance. There are several vertical louvers on the grille. There are forged alloy wheels with a maximum diameter of 21 inches.

The AMG and hybrid powertrain features now have their own displays on the MBUX infotainment system. Another common feature is a head-up display.
