Almost all of the X-Class cars sold in Australia have been recalled by Mercedes due to a manufacturing flaw that might result in the rear window shattering. The back glass "may have strain on it due to a manufacturing flaw, as a seal has shrunk causing the window to shatter," the notification stated. Mercedes cautions owners that the danger of an accident "causing serious damage or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users" could increase because "in the event of a glass breakage it would break into small, compact fragments."
The recall, which was announced on the official website of the Australian government, applies to 5,889 pickups manufactured between 2018 and 2019.
Vehicle owners should get in touch with the closest dealership so that the problem can be remedied free of charge. The dealerships will also inspect whether rubber blocks were inserted in the back section of X-Class automobiles with a Mercedes-Benz canopy that was modified.
Due to weak sales, the X-Class, which made its debut in 2017, was canceled in 2020. Mercedes gave up on the pickup market and discontinued the pickup truck that was built on the same platform as the Nissan Navara.
