MG Motors continues its assault on the European market with the Marvel R Electric, a completely electric C-SUV flagship. The Marvel R is not a brand-new car; it has been available in China since 2020. The vehicle was first revealed in March for a May debut, which was subsequently pushed back to October. It's a revamped version of the Roewe Marvel X, which first appeared in 2018.
Aside from the front and back emblems, the styling is similar to the Rowe Marvel R.
Two electric motors on the back axle provide 177 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque in the MG Marvel R Electric. This allows for a 7.9-second acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h and a peak speed of 200 km/h.
Comfort, Luxury, and Performance are the three trim options offered for the MG Marvel R Electric. While the first two variants share the same powerplant, the Performance model has a single front-wheel-drive motor with a combined output of 284 horsepower and 665 Nm. This one goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and maintains a peak speed of 200 km/h.
The 70 kWh battery is standard on all EU-spec MG Marver R Electric vehicles. The Marver R Electric can travel up to 402 km in WLTP range with the twin motor and 370 km with the tri-motor with this battery.
When it comes to charging, a DC charger can charge the battery from 5-80% in 43 minutes.
Dual-zone temperature control, four USB ports, a panoramic sunroof, and partly leather upholstery are all standard features inside the interior. A 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, heated seats, and a Bose premium sound system are included in the Luxury and Performance trims. The MG Pilot package of safety features 14 ADAS, including Traffic Jam Assistance.
The slanted center console is dominated by a massive 19.4-inch touchscreen that houses the MG iSmart infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto compatibility, and Amazon Web Services, as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The five-seater interior, according to MG, includes quality materials and extensive equipment. The MG Marvel R Electric will be marketed in Europe with the similarly sized MG HS plug-in hybrid.
The base Comfort starts at €39,990 ($46,304), climbs to €43,990 ($50,932) for the Luxury, and tops out at €47,990 ($55,563) for the flagship Performance.
