MG7 Debuts In China As A Flagship Sedan

Author: |

Following the recent teaser images published inside China, SAIC officially revealed the flagship sedan MG7. In addition to being at the top of the lineup, the MG7 is the first car in the Black Label Series to emphasize upscale appearance and sportiness.

The model's strong body gives it an aggressive appearance in terms of design. The proportions, low-slung silhouette, slim coupe-style roofline, and frameless windows all point to a front-wheel drive platform. Sharp LED headlights and aggressive intakes, reminiscent of the MG Cyberster concept, define the front appearance.

Full-width LED taillights, a rear windscreen with a steep inclination, an integrated ducktail spoiler, and quad exhaust pipes are all present at the rear.

A dynamic rear wing with a three-stage deployment is the best feature of the back. The MG7 has the following measurements: 4,884 mm long, 1,889 mm broad, and 1,447 mm tall.

The dashboard in the five-seater interior has sophisticated materials and ambient lighting but yet seems rather trendy and uninspired. The usual 33-inch free-standing digital cockpit houses both the infotainment touchscreen and the instrument cluster.

The MG7 has two alternative ICE-powered engine options, with plug-in hybrid variants possibly arriving the following year.

A 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 183 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque powers the base 300 VTGI model. The front axle receives power from the engine via a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission. For those seeking greater performance, there is the 405 VTGI Trophy, which has a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that generates 254 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque. The more powerful engine is only coupled to a nine-speed ZF automatic transmission, which once more sends power to the front axle. An electronic limited-slip differential and an electronically controlled suspension are standard on the MG7.

SAIC MG will manufacture the vehicle here in the country. Prior to the projected market debut before the end of the year, prices will be disclosed.
