Mitsubishi unveiled a new Eclipse Cross trim, the "Black Edition," in Japan along with a number of minor model-year changes. The P, G, and M primary trims, as well as the Black Edition and G Limited Edition specials, are all part of the updated trim structure for the Eclipse Cross.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is still an option for the Eclipse Cross, as is a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 2.4-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors and a 13.8 kWh battery.
The hands-free motorized tailgate, heated back seats, and USB charging station for the back passengers are new additions to the compact SUV for 2023. Additionally, the "My Pilot" ADAS, which was already offered for the PHEV, is now installed in the trims with petrol engines.
With a sleek interior and exterior, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Black Edition joins the bigger Outlander. The front bumper's Dynamic Shield still has a chrome finish, but the grille, skid plates, side skirts, and mirror caps have all been painted black, along with a unique set of alloy wheels.
Trim on the dashboard, center console, instrument panel, door cards, and the leather-wrapped steering wheel is a combination of glossy black and dark silver.
In Japan, all of those are already available for purchase. New grades are expected to be added to the selection in February 2023. The new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is priced in Japan between $18,300 for the base petrol-powered 2WD model and $33,400 for the PHEV 4WD variant in the top-of-the-line "Black Edition" trim.
