The Mitsubishi Mirage has reached its end of the road in Japan, as evidenced by the model's discontinuation on the company website.
A spokesperson told Autoblog that despite the change overseas, "The Mirage remains an integral part of our U.S. lineup at this time."
Only 12,763 units of the Mirage have been sold in the United States as of the third quarter.
The Mirage's future in America is uncertain, but a new Colt based on the CMF-B platform will be sold in Europe. The model, which is expected to debut next fall, with a shared platform with the Renault Clio.
One of the least expensive cars in America is the Mirage. The hatchback starts at $16,245 and customers can upgrade to the Mirage G4 sedan for an additional $1,000. The models' 14-inch steel wheels, drum rear brakes, and 1.2-liter engine, which produces 76 hp and 100 Nm of torque, mean that buyers don't get much for their money.
Automatic climate control, cruise control, and a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all standard on the Mitsubishi Mirage.
