Creating an entirely new car is a challenging feat for niche automakers, so Mitsuoka opted for a practical approach by basing the M55 on the 11th-generation Civic Hatchback. While the car retains the recognizable silhouette of the Honda Civic, Mitsuoka has extensively redesigned the exterior to create a retro-modern look inspired by the Dodge Challenger. Every component of the front fascia has been replaced, with new headlights that mimic the Challenger’s design, complemented by an elongated grille that enhances the muscle car aesthetic. Additionally, the car is fitted with black aftermarket wheels wrapped in Michelin tires, further emphasizing its bold, sporty stance. At the rear, the M55 departs significantly from the Civic’s original design, showcasing unique taillights and a custom bumper, both echoing the design language of American muscle cars.

Inside the cabin, much of the Civic's standard layout remains intact. However, Mitsuoka has introduced a touch of luxury by upholstering the seats in premium blue leather, giving the interior a more refined and upscale feel. The Honda emblem on the steering wheel has also been replaced with Mitsuoka’s badge, adding an exclusive brand identity to the vehicle's otherwise familiar interior.Under the hood, the M55 retains the Civic’s turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine, which produces 180 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, maintaining the Civic's dynamic and engaging driving characteristics. Mitsuoka has hinted at potential future variants, which may include a CVT option or even a hybrid powertrain.Customers interested in owning one of these limited-edition vehicles can place their orders exclusively through dealerships in Japan. Online or phone orders are not permitted, making the buying process more exclusive.
