Hyundai motor company will debut the new IONIQ 5 model on February 23 and now there are some pictures that announce its interior design. Design-wise the new IONIQ 5 uses more straight lines on the body. The headlights are LED and the wheels are so unique just like the whole body. The rear is also simple but nice.
The new IONIQ 5 is a new vehicle that will use a new E-GMP platform that has been developed for electric vehicles. This is the first purely electric vehicle from Hyundai.
The new platform allows the automaker to use a flat battery so the interior space will remain as practical as normal vehicles. Also, the new platform allows Hyundai to design the IONIQ 5 with a flat floor so there is no central armrest box.
As it is an EV car, Hyundai used environmentally friendly materials inside the cabin. The sliding armrest allows the passenger to move inside the cabin through the middle channel.
Other highlights inside the cabin are a shift-by-wire system, ultra-thin instrument cluster panel, leg rests for both front seats, adjusting ability for all seats, synthetic leather, and polyurethane bio-coating for the dashboard, switches, steering wheel, and door panels.
While there is no confirmation yet but the new IONIQ 5 will use a new electric powertrain with 230 kW of power that enables it to hit 100 kph in 5.2 seconds. The driving range is said to be more than 550 km.
