The fourth-generation Suzuki Swift makes its European debut with a body that is marginally more angular, a tablet touchscreen, and increased safety features.
Although Suzuki claims that the fourth-generation Swift is completely new, it unmistakably looks a lot like the previous model, especially in the front end.
Inside the updated cabin, the old and new are also combined in a similar way. The new Swift has a more contemporary appearance thanks to the replacement of the outdated car's in-dash touchscreen with a 9-inch tablet mounted above the dash. To match the other Suzuki models, the climate panel has also been updated.
Similar to later iterations of the previous Swift, the new model has mild hybrid power as standard. Suzuki has yet to disclose the Z12E 1.2-liter assisted triple's power or performance numbers, but we do know that it has been tuned for low-end torque and is offered with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive.
To give you an idea, the 1.2-liter mild hybrid engine of the departing car produced 82 horsepower and required 12.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h when equipped with the optional CVT transmission. We hope the European model of the 2024 car will continue to be offered with three pedals and a stick shifter, as the Japanese version, which was released a few weeks ago, only has a CVT 'box.
Lane-keeping assistance, driver monitoring, and Dual Sensor Brake Support II are among the new car's safety features. The latter uses a combination of camera and radar imagery to alert the driver to cars, bikes, and pedestrians in his path, and can also apply the brakes automatically if the driver fails to respond.
When the spring 2024 release date approaches, we'll find out more about detail and pricing.
