Dongfeng Nissan has officially unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the N7, at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Designed exclusively for the Chinese market, this new EV is the product of a collaboration between Nissan and its local partner Dongfeng, operating under a 50:50 joint venture. At first glance, the N7’s design appears somewhat unconventional for a Nissan, making it difficult to associate the vehicle with the brand if not for its badge.
The N7 draws inspiration from the Epoch concept and enters the market as a mid-size electric sedan. Its sleek and modern design carries a strong resemblance to the Xpeng P7, which could make it appear less distinctive in a competitive EV segment. At the front, the car showcases a contemporary look with a slim light bar, aggressive fang-shaped headlights, and a wide lower air intake. The design is further enhanced by what seems to be an illuminated Nissan emblem. Moving along the sides, the vehicle features smooth body contours, flush-fitting door handles, and a generously sized greenhouse. Additional design elements include gloss-black trim, a rear light bar, and stylish two-tone alloy wheels.
The N7 is slightly larger than its rival, the Xpeng P7, measuring 4,930 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,487 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm. While it’s 50 mm longer overall, its wheelbase is 83 mm shorter, which could impact interior space. Nissan has yet to reveal images of the interior or share detailed technical specifications. However, the company has confirmed that the N7 is built on a locally developed modular electric platform and will feature advanced technologies such as a “Navigate on Autopilot” driver-assist system. The car’s infotainment system is expected to deliver a smooth user experience, powered by the high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor.
Although Nissan has kept key details under wraps, the N7 is positioned to cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles in China. Its design and technology are tailored to meet local market preferences, with production and sales set to commence in the first half of 2025. As the N7 prepares to enter the EV market, it will likely compete with other mid-size sedans, relying on its modern aesthetics and advanced driver-assistance features to make an impact.
