Pagani Utopia Roadster Revealed

Author: |

Pagani has unveiled its latest marvel, the Utopia Roadster. This open-top variant of the V12-powered supercar offers both a hardtop and a soft top option, yet remarkably, it adds no additional weight compared to the coupe version. This achievement defies the usual increase in weight seen with convertible models. The Utopia Roadster, like its coupe counterpart, weighs in at 1,280 kilograms. This parity in weight is due to the concurrent development of both the coupe and roadster versions, which share the same monocoque chassis and performance specifications.

The interior of the Utopia Roadster is equally as impressive as that of the coupe. It features extensive use of carbon fiber, leather, and aluminum, creating a luxurious and high-tech environment. One of the standout features is the exposed gear linkage of the seven-speed manual transmission, highlighted by a polished carbon fiber insert on the shifter. The steering wheel, though seemingly simple at first glance, is a testament to Pagani’s meticulous craftsmanship. It was carved from a single piece of metal weighing 9,480 pounds and required 28 hours of continuous work on a five-axis milling machine to complete, resulting in a final weight of just 5.3 pounds.

The Utopia Roadster retains many of the coupe's design elements, including the sculpted rear deck and butterfly doors. Additionally, the roadster version introduces unique interior features such as new floor mats with a texture reminiscent of an outboard boat and a redesigned key that mirrors the vehicle's open-top silhouette.

Pagani offers extensive customization options for the Utopia Roadster. One notable option is the Sport Pack configuration, which is also available for the coupe. The display model is finished in an exposed carbon Habanero Red and includes Aeroblade carbon deflectors on the wheels, emphasizing its sporty and aggressive aesthetic.

Under the hood, the Utopia Roadster is powered by an AMG-sourced twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine, delivering an impressive 852 horsepower and 1,100 Nm of torque, all without any electric assistance. The power is directed to the rear wheels through a seven-speed Xtrac gearbox, which can be operated in either automatic or manual mode and is supported by an electronic differential.

The hypercar is equipped with advanced features such as active suspension and the innovative Pirelli Cyber Tyre sensor system. This technology works with Pirelli P Zero Corsa, Winter, and Trofeo RS tires to relay tire information to the vehicle’s stability and traction control systems, enhancing driving performance and safety.

Pagani Utopia Roadster

The Pagani Utopia Roadster is set to make its public debut at the Monterey Car Week. Production is limited to just 130 units, each with a starting price of €3.1 million before taxes. This exclusivity, combined with its advanced engineering and bespoke design, ensures that the Utopia Roadster is not just a car, but a masterpiece of automotive art.
