Porsche Recalls 2025 Taycan

Porsche has announced a recall for the newly released 2025 Taycan electric vehicle in the United States. The recall, affecting fewer than 200 cars, is due to a glitch in the rear-view camera system.

The issue arises when the Taycan detects an object in front of it, automatically activating the visual park assist function. If the reverse gear is engaged shortly after this activation, the rear-view camera may not function as required by federal safety standards, increasing the risk of a collision.

A total of 183 Taycans, manufactured between March 27 and August 19, 2024, are affected by this problem. Porsche has identified a software programming bug as the root cause. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) initiated the recall after the issue was discovered during a function endurance test in August.

Porsche will notify owners of the affected Taycans by mail, instructing them to take their vehicles to a dealership for repairs. The central computer will be updated with new software to ensure the rear-view camera operates correctly.

While this is the first recall for the 2025 Taycan, it is not the only recall affecting Porsche's flagship electric vehicle. Earlier this month, Porsche announced a recall for 27,720 Taycans from the 2020-2024 model years due to potential short circuits in the high-voltage battery pack. These batteries were sourced from LG Energy Solution. While Porsche is developing a diagnostic system to detect battery anomalies, it won't be available until the first quarter of 2025. In the meantime, affected Taycan owners are advised to limit charging to 80% capacity as a temporary solution.
