Price Hikes Hit 2025 Ford Mustang GT

Author: |

Ford isn't making any major changes to the 2025 Mustang lineup, but there are some tweaks to the features and, more importantly for some folks, the price tag. This news might sting a bit if you're a V8 enthusiast.

If you crave the rumble of a V8 under the hood, be prepared to loosen your grip on your wallet a little tighter. The 2025 Mustang GT base price jumps a noticeable $2,600 for both the standard and Premium trims, no matter if you prefer the classic coupe or the drop-top convertible. This means the cheapest option, a GT Fastback, will now set you back $47,055. Feeling fancy and wanting the GT Premium with all the bells and whistles? That'll be $51,575. And if a V8 soundtrack is the soundtrack to your summer cruises with the top down, you'll be looking at a starting price of $57,075 for the GT convertible (remember, Ford only offers the convertible option on EcoBoost and GT Premium models). Ouch!

While the price hike might seem like a gut punch, there is a tiny silver lining. All those extra bucks get you a few extra goodies. The 10-speed automatic transmission, which previously cost $1,595 as an upgrade, is now included as a standard feature. This might not be music to the ears of die-hard manual transmission fans, but for those who prefer the convenience of an automatic, it's a welcome change. Additionally, GT Fastback buyers will now enjoy the luxury of dual-zone climate control and comfy leather/vinyl trimmed seats as standard equipment. These features were previously part of a $2,000 package, so at least you're getting a bit more bang for your buck.

However, if you want to further customize your Mustang GT with options like the Active Exhaust with the quad tips that provide a throatier sound, you'll be digging deeper into your pockets. This option sees a $370 price increase to $1,595. Upgrading to Brembo brakes will cost you an extra $300, and the California Special package on the GT Premium tacks on an additional $2,195. Even the equipment packages seem to be creeping up slightly in price compared to last year.

So, the V8 experience comes at a premium this year, with both the base and Premium trims of the Dark Horse variant seeing price hikes. The Dark Horse starts at $2,645 more in 2025, and the Dark Horse Premium jumps a whopping $3,645, with a starting price of $69,870. As far as we can tell from the official configurator, there aren't even any new features to justify this cost increase – it's simply more expensive to own a top-of-the-line Mustang Dark Horse this year.

On the bright side, there's better news for those who prefer the turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost Mustang. Prices remain unchanged for this fuel-efficient option, and you'll also get standard dual-zone climate control as a bonus. This makes the optional 101A Equipment package a little more attractive, dropping in price to $2,095. However, there is a bit of a downside for EcoBoost fans – the EcoBoost High-Performance package seems to have vanished entirely from Ford's configurator. So, if you were eyeing that specific upgrade, you're out of luck.

Overall, the 2025 Mustang lineup sees some price adjustments, with V8 trims taking the biggest hit. EcoBoost fans get a slight price break and some standard features, but lose access to a specific high-performance package. Stay tuned for more updates as we learn more about the 2025 Mustang!
