As a result of six linked fires raising alarm, RAM advises 306K truck owners to avoid parking indoors. It could happen that their heavy-duty pickup vehicles catch fire. It's the biggest recall to date and only the most recent in a string of incidents involving a related problem. RAM urges owners to park recalled vehicles outside to reduce the risk of damage until the recall can be finished.
According to a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles assessment, some vehicles' intake heater-grid relays have a tendency to overheat and, in rare instances, pose a fire danger. The company claimed that it is aware of six fires that might be connected. Six of these were reported after the ignition was turned off, with five of them occurring while the truck was in motion.
Certain model years of the 2500 and 3500, as well as the 3500, 4500, and 5500 chassis cab trucks from 2021 to 2023, are among the affected trucks. About 306,165 automobiles are included in the recall overall. The fact that each of them is powered by a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine is crucial.
Beginning tomorrow, February 16, RAM customers will be able to determine whether or not they own an affected vehicle by entering their VIN information into search engines at mopar.com/recalls or NHTSA.gov. FCA plans to directly inform customers of the situation surrounding this most recent recall in March. Consumers are urged to dial 1-800-853-1403 if they have any more queries or concerns.
